PRESCRIPTION REFILL

In order to process your refill request as quickly as possible, please include the following information in a message through the patient portal:

​

  • Name and dosage of each medication

  • Name and address of pharmacy

  • Written confirmation of understanding that refill fee of $35 will be charged to the current card on file prior to script(s) being sent out

  • Refills without a visit are not covered by insurance and are therefore a self-pay service

  • ​

Please allow 48–72 hours to process prescription requests. Medications requiring pre-authorization may require additional time to process.

Most refills granted will only be 7 days’ worth of medication to give you plenty of time to walk in for a medication visit within the week.

It is important to note that in no way will your care be compromised if you choose not to pay for or receive uninsured services. We are available for walk-in services every weekday in the event your refill request is not granted.

Additional Information:

​

  • Prescription refills require close monitoring by your physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant to ensure the safe continuation of the appropriate dose, frequency, and term of that medication. Your provider will prescribe the appropriate number of prescription refills to last you until your next walk-in visit.

  • It is the patient’s responsibility to set up your next medication visit with adequate time to receive a prescription refill.

  • As prescriptions are prescribed with the amount of refills needed until the next appointment, almost all requests for prescription refills between regularly scheduled appointments will require an appointment in the office prior to authorization. The clinician will review the request from the patient portal, as well as the patient’s medical record, to determine appointment needs. The patient will be contacted by the staff to set up such a visit, if necessary.

  • In the event that you require an emergency refill and refill request is approved by your provider, an appropriate refill will be submitted to your local pharmacy after a fee of $35 is charged. If your prescription refill is not approved, please contact the office to set up a walk-in visit.

  • Please plan ahead for refills during holidays and when traveling.

  • Patients requesting new prescriptions must be seen for an appointment by a clinician. They are not prescribed over the phone.

  • Maintaining current pharmacy information is the responsibility of the patient. Please confirm with our practice that your correct local pharmacy address and phone number or mail order pharmacy information is on file. Prescription refills will be submitted electronically to your pharmacy. Your local pharmacy will contact you when your prescription is ready.

  • Our practice will always order generic prescriptions whenever available unless brand is medically necessary. Each insurance plan outlines a detailed classification for medications which could impact which medication, generic or brand, is prescribed and the cost to you. Contact your insurance plan for details.
